UK Oscars coverage tops ITV with 1 million viewers, but event has been criticized for insensitivity and lack of critical expertise

Coverage of the Oscars was broadcast in the UK for free last night for the first time in two decades, but ITV's coverage has been criticized on social media for its insensitivity and lack of critical expertise.

The Los Angeles concert was watched by nearly a million viewers in the UK and an average of 630,000 viewers from its start time at 22.15 GMT until the early hours of the morning, but viewers used X to air their complaints.
