This was the historic coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom

London, England.- After 70 years of waiting, Charles Philip Arthur George was crowned King of England by Charles III during a historic ceremony in Westminster Abbey.

Charles and his wife Camilla were crowned Kings of Britain. No queen has been crowned in England since 1937, the last of which was Queen Elizabeth, wife of King George VI – Charles’ grandfather.

At 9:20 am (London time), the King and Queen left Buckingham Palace in a carriage towards Westminster Abbey.

This luxurious jacket was made in 1911 for the coronation of King George V, which took place on June 22, 1911. It is the garment that the new king reused for his coronation.

The proceeds of the crown are presented to the new king. The first was the golden spur, which symbolized chivalry.

Then the jeweled sacrificial sword fastened to the king’s waist with a sword belt was presented.

The Archbishop presents the sword to the king and tells him that it must be used to protect good and punish evil. The sword is then removed and placed on the altar of Westminster Abbey, before the sovereign is draped in the imperial cloak.

The imperial gown was created for the coronation of George IV in 1821, and was worn by King George V, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. It is the oldest tunic worn at a coronation service.
