Thursday, April 20, the State Department (MINEX) reported that Secretary of State Mario Picaro will hold several meetings with members of Congress, senators and Joe Biden administration officials, as part of the official agenda in the United States.
According to the State Department, on Wednesday the 19th, Picaro held a meeting with the chair of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar.
Picaro, in turn, held a meeting with Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman, and Foreign Relations Committee Chairman and Republican Congressman Michael McCaul.
The Minex Chairman’s Agenda arranged a conversation with the President’s Special Envoy for the Americas, Senator Chris Dodd, as well as with the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.
In addition, the visit includes the signing of the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Similarly, Assistant State Department Spokesperson Vedant Patil noted that Sherman and Picaro met in Washington, D.C., where the North American official mentioned the relationship between the two countries on regional immigration matters, as well as global problems.
During the meeting, Sherman stressed the importance of fighting corruption and strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law to promote economic prosperity.
The Secretary of State and the Under Secretary agreed that the relationship between the two countries continues to focus on making a positive difference for a better future for Guatemalans.
