The UK will pay an additional $17.5 million to Rwanda to deport migrants, according to The Times.

The British government will allocate an additional 15 million pounds sterling (about 17.5 million euros) to the government of Rwanda within the framework of the agreement to receive this African country for immigrants. This new figure will be in addition to 140 million pounds sterling (163 million euros) already handed over to the Rwandan authorities, according to information published by the Sunday Times. The money will be used to improve the system for processing asylum applications, according to government sources. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has already signed off on this new spending, and Home Secretary James Cleverley is scheduled to travel to Kigali on Monday to conclude a treaty that will be presented to the British Parliament on Thursday with law. Which declares Rwanda a “safe country” to avoid a recent Supreme Court ruling that paralyzed the agreement and called into question the status of migrants in the African country, according to Bloomberg News Agency. Sunak expressed his frustration with this ruling last Friday during his trip to Dubai to participate in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 being held in Dubai. “My patience is running out. The country’s patience is running out. We have to end this cycle,” he said.
