“We Do Science” Conference – ULL

On Friday, February 9, with the aim of contributing to the commemoration of “International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11, 2024),” a new edition of the “We Do Science” event will be held. The purpose of this conference is “to demonstrate the importance of the personality of women in science and to promote the scientific and technological careers of young Canarian women”, by holding 3 informative lectures by professional reference researchers at our university or national centres.

This activity is carried out in virtual mode and will be attended by more than 1,000 high school, high school and vocational training students from 26 schools in La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Below is today's programme:

  • 10:30 am opening
  • 10:40 h Interview with Covadonga Rodriguez – marine biologist (researcher at the University of La Laguna)
  • 11:10 AM Talk with Barbara Sukas – Chemistry (Assistant Professor, PhD, University of La Laguna)
  • 11:40 AM Conversation with Cecilia Hernandez – Physicist (Chairman of the European Space Agency’s Scientific Committee)
  • 12:10 PM Farewell

This activity is promoted by the Faculty of Science and the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of La Laguna, in collaboration with the Canary Islands Agency for Research and Innovation and the Information Association of the Government of the Canary Islands.
