“Although it is the second edition of this international opening, it is officially the first: Our club will have a franchise for the next four years of this event, which was originally scheduled for last February, but we had to postpone it as a result of that from the pandemic,” explained Daniel Alcover. .

“We have 143 athletes from nine countries as participants, accompanied by their respective teammates, technicians and referees, and all of them will reside in Benalmadena during the opening days, which will have a significant tourism and commercial impact”, the club president appreciated the badminton Benalmádena.

Alcover explained that in the past year they have had more participation than athletes from the UK or Scandinavia, who will not be attending this year because the current COVID-19 infection in the province will force them to pass quarantine, making it difficult for them to do so. Participation.

“Since it is impossible to have an audience in matches due to the pandemic, we have made an effort to get as professional streaming broadcasts as possible, through Badminton Spain on YouTube, a channel on which we will also broadcast promotional videos provided by public entities,” the club president noted.

“Sport is a very useful tool for strengthening the main resource of the Costa del Sol, which is suffering a lot from the epidemic: tourism,” concluded Alcover.

“For us, it is a pride that we have achieved the organization of sporting events during the pandemic: Covid has not made it easy for us, but thanks to the efforts of the Benalmádena Badminton Club, the city was able to host this very important opening,” Brown added.
