The 8th Scientific and Technological Innovation Competition has winners

These are the School of Champions of Chile de Limache in the basic education category and the School of Almondil Lomas de Concepcion in the middle school.

An intensive day was held last Thursday, October 5, at the Valparaíso Museum of Natural History, after the prize distribution of the eighth edition of the School of Innovation, Science and Technology 2023 competition.

The project “Vegetable seeds tolerate low temperatures” Students Anahi Carvajal Aranda and Joel Guajardo Mella, from Escuela Héroes de Chili de Limache, won first place in the Basic Education category. For its part, the investigation; “Focusing on appropriate and effective treatments for acne: a scientific review of the adolescent problem.” Among the students, María José Novoa Cid and Ignacia Troncoso Torres from Almondil School Lomas de Concepcion were the average winners.

For Anahi Carvajal, an eighth-year B student at Héroes de la Chile and one of the winners of this edition, this achievement is the result of the work she has done with her colleagues and teachers.

“We are very happy with the achievement we have achieved, because it was months of sacrifices, effort, and work with our teacher, because she motivated us to study, read, think, and draw conclusions from our experience.” He said: “Without a doubt, this first place is a great achievement for the entire team, and this fills me with pride and happiness.”

On the other hand, Rocio Herrera, a teacher at the Chilean Champions School in Limache, expressed her satisfaction and great pride in this achievement. He added: “The matter has been complicated throughout this period, since we officially returned from the pandemic, and we are very happy with all the achievements they have achieved, which were not without discussions, sorrows and joys, but it is all part of the learning process that must occur when working as a team.” “.

For her part, Maria José Novoa Cid, a third-grade student at Almondel Lomas de Concepcion School, and one of the winners in the secondary education category, noted, “We started working on this project in March.

“The idea arose from a combination between what our colleagues wanted to do and what we considered appropriate. In this sense, we were able to agree and combine the two ideas to form this proposal that won today.”

She added: “I feel proud, excited and grateful for what we have achieved today. This is the effort of the staff, especially my colleague Ignacia Troncoso and my colleagues Felipe Nunez, Cristobal Alarcon and Benjamin Cid.

On this occasion, 16 research projects were selected, corresponding to 8 educational institutions, from the regions of Biobio, Los Lagos, O’Higgins and Valparaiso, divided into two categories. Secondary and basic education.

The schools and colleges participating on this occasion are: El Pilar School in Ancud, Chiloe; Mar Aberto School, Viña del Mar; Pedro Montt High School, Valparaiso; Chilean Champions School, Limache; Faculty of Science, Viña del Mar; Almondil Lomas de Concepcion School; Federico Errázuriz Regional Institute, Santa Cruz; Juan Rusque Portal High School, Nogales.

It is important to highlight that the “8th Scholastic Competition for Innovation, Science and Technology 2023” was supported by Empresa Portuaria de Valparaíso, the ALCubo Schools Incubator of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences of Valparaíso (ECIVAL).) of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Valparaíso and the Territorio Valparaíso Network STEAM.
