The Queen will not be attending any Buckingham Palace garden parties this year

Buckingham Palace has announced that the Queen will not attend any of the garden parties this year.

It remains to be explained why Her Majesty did not receive guests at the May and June events, although she has recently been experiencing mobility issues.

Four matches will be played in the coming weeks. The format of events meant the Queen had to stand for more than an hour and move through rows to greet visitors.

A statement issued this morning read: “Her Majesty the Queen will be represented by other members of the royal family at this year’s garden parties, with attendance details to be confirmed in due course.

“The Queen has given permission to the Princess Royal, as patron of the charity, to host the annual Not Forgotten Association’s garden party in the garden of Buckingham Palace on Thursday 12 May.”

The Not Forgotten Association provides recreation, leisure and entertainment services to the wounded, injured or sick in service and to disabled men and women who have served.
