Promotes SDSU, International Business and Receives $1.28 Million Support Fund

San Diego. In order to continue the work of the Center for Immediate Business Education (CIBER) program, San Diego State University received a grant of $1.28 million.

These funds are expected to be combined with a similar amount from San Diego State University (SDSU), which will equate to approximately $638,000 annually for the next four years.

It has been reported that SDSU has been designated a National Center of Excellence and is one of 16 universities in the United States and 2nd in California to receive the CIBER Award.

Supported by funds from this program, the home university seeks to “improve the competitiveness of American business by graduating students with a global perspective.”

Indeed, it was pointed out that research-supported activities include funding professors’ research and providing opportunities for students to study at foreign universities that enhance them in their chosen careers or professional fields.

Information and training programs for the business community are also being promoted; Programs for language and business teachers from institutions across the United States and for interdisciplinary education in the country.

San Diego Congresswoman Sarah Jacobs said, “With this funding, SDSU will continue to set the standard for educational excellence in international business among our nation’s colleges and alumni.”

Jacobs is also a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact.

The legislator highlighted that “because of its focus on linguistic and cultural education, as well as on workforce development and (national) competitiveness,” it was one of the main reasons why in 1989 SDSU operated under the Wendy-Gillespie Center for Global Business Advancement at Fowler College of Business.

Its programs have been shown to support teaching and research activity through interdisciplinary collaborations (scholars from various disciplines of knowledge and science, while supporting the international business major of undergraduate students at SDSU.

The latter, which is jointly carried out by the College of Arts and Letters, ranks eighth in the country, according to the prestigious publication US News & World Report.
