Jenson Button returns to F1 as Williams advisor

Madrid, 22 one. (Europe Press) –

Former British driver Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula 1 champion, has become a new adviser to Williams, the team that allowed him to make his competition debut in 21 years and with whom he signed a “multi-year” contract.

Patton started his Formula One career in 2000 with Williams, teaming with Ralph Schumacher, before driving with other teams such as Benetton Renault, Honda, McLaren and Brown, where he won the world title.

“Throughout the 2021 season, Jenson will attend several Grand Prix races with Williams, as well as participate in some events in the UK, and will also support Williams’ marketing and media activities as needed throughout the season. Jenson will also continue with his media assignments as an expert analyst at Sky Sports F1. This season, along with his new role in the squad, “the team explained in a statement.

For his part, Botton was “pleased” with the news. “For over 20 years, Sir Frank Williams has shown his confidence in me, and I would be forever grateful and extremely excited for the opportunity to come back and help the team in their quest again for success. There is a lot of work to be done, but I have no doubt that the future is bright. Incredibly for this amazing team, I can’t wait to get started. “
