CONICET is once again the best governmental scientific institution in Latin America | CCT

In 2024, CONICET maintains its first position as a governmental scientific institution in Latin AmericaAccording to the results of the recently published 16th edition of the Scimago Classification (SIR). Among Latin American governmental organizations dedicated to research, CONICET is once again ranked first. In the ranking followed by Mexico, Chile and Brazil.

In addition, It is ranked 20th out of 1,870 government research institutions worldwide. Meanwhile, the Council ranked 224th out of 9,054 academic and scientific institutions analyzed from around the world, with 621 more organizations joining the rankings compared to the previous year. This year, CONICET also maintains its position as the best scientific institution in the country, among institutions belonging to different sectors, fields and types of institutions.

Since 2009, the SCImago Research Group has published annually sirWhich reflects scientific activity in the world. SIR World is presented as a table of positions that aims to reveal information related to the research, innovation and social impact performance of organizations, distinguishing them in terms of their scientific, economic and social contribution.

As defined in its policies, the main goal pursued by SIR is to contribute to decision-making, public and institutional policy development, and develop roadmaps to enhance research and continuous improvement of institutions.

The SIR includes institutions from all countries and sectors that published at least 100 documents in Scopus-indexed journals in the last year of the study period. In 2024, the measurement process was implemented based on 20 indicators, grouped into three main factors: research, innovation and social impact.
