Canada gives Puerto Rico its fourth straight loss

Santo Domingo.- Canada defeated Puerto Rico in three sets on Thursday to hand them their fourth straight setback in the Volleyball Pan American Cup final in Santo Domingo.

The Canadians dominated the match in straight sets 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.

The defeat left the Puerto Ricans with no chance of advancing to the semi-finals, which will be held on Friday.

On the marathon day of Thursday, the Puerto Rican national team lost in a previous match against Mexico in three straight sets as well.

Puerto Rico still has one match against the Dominican Republic, which was supposed to take place last Tuesday, when the tournament was suspended due to the passage of Tropical Storm Franklin in the country.

Jasmine Rivest led the Canadiens’ offense with 15 points, nine on offense and six on services; Nyadholi Thukpoom loaned her with 14 points, while Raya Surinks finished with 12 points.

As for Puerto Rico, Norian Ceballos Plaza starred with 14 points, and Sofia Alejandra Vega Lopez, who scored four goals.

Canada dominated the three main lines of the match. On offense, it reached 42-20. In block 6-2, while in transmission 13-6.
