Butler AustinThe actor who was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for “Elvis” will star in “Caught Stealing,” director Darren Aronofsky's upcoming film, Variety reported on Wednesday.
The film, which was acquired by Sony Pictures, revolves around Hank Thompson, a former baseball player who is unwittingly drawn into a brutal fight for survival in the criminal underworld of 1990s Central New York.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Charlie Huston, who will be responsible for the screenplay.
“I'm excited to partner with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie's adrenaline-filled rollercoaster to life. “I'm looking forward to working with Austin and my family of filmmakers in New York.” Aronofsky said in a statement reported by Variety.
The director's career includes titles such as “Black Swan” (2011), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director, or “The Whale”, for which he won two awards, including Best Actor for Brendan Fraser.
Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures' Motion Pictures Group, noted in another statement that Aronofsky is “one of the most brilliant audio-visual storytellers of all time,” and that adapting Houston's book with Butler as the protagonist was “a very big opportunity.” Part of it.
