In his speech, the President of Hidalgo stressed that the new travel center will increase the competitiveness of the entity, in addition to opening the door to new economic sectors.
“(The launch of AIFA) makes us a more competitive entity and integrates new markets, both tourism and business. Let us not forget that the airport is for passengers and cargo,” he said.
He noted that for nearly 26 years, Hidalgo has been seeking to host the possibility that when Mexico City’s airport has to be retrofitted, the entity will be considered as the main alternative.
“In the end, our intention was firmly established not in Tizayuca or Zapotlan, but in this region, with an international airport at the gates of our state; this will contribute to the development of Hidalgo,” he detailed.
He added that in the future, the highway between Mexico and Pachuca may continue to be expanded, but from Pachuca to AIFA; In addition, “if resources allow”, the Pachuca-Santa Lucia suburban train project can continue.
For his part, President Lopez Obrador announced the completion of the works, in addition, he confirmed, through the road works that they had undertaken, that “the airport can now be reached from anywhere in Mexico City”.

The goals for the new airport for 2022 are to carry 2 million passengers, in addition to having up to 30 different routes for the second half of the year, among which are flights to the United States.
Likewise, they plan to reach 5 million people using it by 2023, according to AIFA’s Director General, Isidoro Pastor Roman.
