The women's national basketball team was unable to achieve victory in the first match of the tournament Olympic qualifiers This is disputed in Medellin. The team, led by Eduardo Pinto, was defeated 81-39 by its Canadian counterpart.
The Purple Team will face Puerto Rico next Friday on the second day of the competition.
The Canadian team outperformed Venezuela in this match, scoring 42 points in the first half and 39 in the second half. While the national team scored only 15 points in the first two quarters and 24 points in the third and fourth quarters.
The player who scored the most points for Venezuela was Mariana Duran with 10, in addition to grabbing three rebounds and providing four assists.

Finally, the Purple Team will seek to redeem itself against Puerto Rico in an effort to qualify for the 2024 Olympic qualifiers.
