Turkish manufacturer Baykar has confirmed the completion of the first test launch of its new small intelligent cruise missile KEMANKEŞ 2. Its predecessor was KEMANKEŞ 1 which was baptized in test fire on June 14, 2023 using a launcher as a launching pad. Unmanned aerial vehicle Unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) Bayraktar TB2.
The missile uses a turbojet engine that gives it an autonomy of one hour and a range of up to 200 kilometers. It can be used day and night, because it has a built-in artificial intelligence system that can reach the target regardless of low visibility. It can send path information and images to the ground system without being subjected to any modifications, as it has a system that provides it immunity from electronic interference.
Despite the economic challenges facing Türkiye, Baykar has grown significantly in recent years. So far, it has signed export agreements with 34 countries. Among the latest contracts, we can find the agreements concluded between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan to acquire new Bayraktar Akinci UCAVs. The latter country recently held an exhibition of its new facilities that support its fleet of drones of various origins.
