As of today, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation has its own agenda for Gender, Diversity and Inclusion. Target? It is an internal working model, consisting of officials from this Ministry who must, among other tasks, study, review and propose updates to the national policy on gender equality in science, technology, knowledge and innovation and at the same time analyze and propose new actions aimed at strengthening its action plan.
In addition to the Science Minister, Flavio Salazar, the Under Secretary, Carolina Ginza, the Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Antonia Orellana, and the National Director(s) of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), Alejandra Pizarro. The Undersecretary for Science, Carolina Ginza, highlighted that this ministry has taken upon itself the commitment to mainstreaming a gender perspective in all its actions, and that is why a strong institutional structure has been designed that will last over time. “As a mainstay of this structure, today we launched the Ministry’s Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Agenda. An important milestone because it is internal governance with regard to gender equality and because gender mainstreaming is possible through capacity installation in every Ministry official who implements public policy on CTCI on a daily basis.”
The Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Antonia Orellana, indicated that she is aware of the work that the Ministry of Science is doing in terms of “promoting the gender agenda and that it is focused on the idea of feminist government, which seeks to convey that we consider women in their totality and diversity, which means that we are not a minority as Some historians say, because we are more than 50% of the population. ”
