actress Margot RobbieThe star of the blockbuster film Barbie has teamed up with toy brand Hasbro to produce a film inspired by Monopoly, one of the world's most popular board games.

According to Variety, Robbie is involved in the project as a producer through her company LuckyChaps, which has already backed “Barbie” and is also working on bringing a story inspired by the computer game “The Sims” to the big screen.

The publication notes that LuckyChap, co-founded by Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley and partner Josie McNamara, is teaming up with Hasbro, which owns the intellectual property for “Monopoly,” and movie studio Lionsgate, which has development rights.

The company hasn't released details other than the fact that it will be a film featuring real actors and not animation, but Lionsgate president Adams Fogelson said Wednesday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that LuckyChap is clear about what it will do.

“They are exceptional producers who choose their projects with great thought and care, and they join Monopoly with a clear point of view.” said Fogelson, who speculated that this would be his “next movie” after “Barbie.”

At the end of March, entertainment media revealed that LuckyChaps was producing 'The Sims' with the game's developer, Electronic Arts, and production company Vertigo Entertainment, and that it would be directed by Kate Heron ('Loki').

The commercial success of “Barbie,” which achieved the highest global collection of 2023 with a value of $1.4 billion, has stimulated demand for LuckyChap, the producer of other recent titles such as “Saltburn,” “Birds of Prey,” “I, Tonya,” or “The Woman Promising young woman.”
