Major LGBTQ groups in the US support Biden’s reelection

Washington, October 10 (Prensa Latina) Major LGBT+ rights groups today announced their support for the re-election campaign of United States President Joe Biden, amid an unprecedented increase in attacks on state legislation.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the National Center for Transgender Equality and the Equality Political Action Committee have endorsed the Biden-Kamala Harris Democratic ticket, which will recur on the 2024 presidential ticket.

This is the first time these groups have jointly supported a presidential bid.

About 550 bills have been introduced in 43 states and more than 80 have become law.

The Hill newspaper quoted the President of the Human Rights Council, Kelly Robinson, as saying: “At a time when the forces of hate seek to divide us on the basis of race, place and identity, the choice in these elections is clear.”

He warned that as LGBTQ+ Americans live in a state of emergency, the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration is needed now more than ever.

“Next year’s elections will determine whether LGBT Americans will have more or fewer freedoms,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez said.

Nationally, the official said MAGA (Make America Great Again) Republicans are “dead-bent on stripping LGBTQ+ Americans of their hard-fought freedoms and using the identities of our fellow Americans for political warfare.”

The Human Rights Commission stated that the three groups that supported Biden represent about 60 million citizens in the United States, and voters of this gender diversity are among the fastest growing electoral blocs.

According to projections, by 2040, LGBTQ+ voters will represent nearly one-fifth of the country’s electorate.
