Lajara beats Chile in their second match in Santiago 2023

The Albiceleste team defeated the local team with a score of 28:15, adding another success to the Pan American Games and securing a place in the semi-finals. Tomorrow at 5:30 p.m., they will face Canada in the group stage finale.

In the second date of Group A, Argentina won strongly against Chile and took another important step towards the great goal of winning its first gold medal in the history of this competition, a result that has an additional incentive to remain in the only place in Group A. As in the first match, La Jara started very well in defence, leaving their opponents without scoring during the first seven minutes. Great defensive passing, with Marisol Carato as a key figure in goal, which was complemented by an attack that went from lowest to highest in effectiveness. With goals from Manuela Pizzo, Aileen Garcia, Karsten (3), Malina Cafu and Juliana Gavilan La Jara, they created the first big difference, 7.1, to reach ten minutes.

Although in the following minutes Chile was able to exploit a bad national pass (the effectiveness of its shots decreased) to close the distance, the feeling was always that Argentina was superior in all stages of the match. After the time-out called by Gallardo with 20 minutes to go, La Jara adjusted the defense again, and Carrato lowered the ante on the Chilean attack and on the counter-attack again increased the difference to 16:9 in the first half.

Two consecutive saves by Karato at the start of the second half would set the tone for the final 30 minutes as the goalkeepers continued to add saves. This time, a few minutes after Carato at the start of the second phase left Chile again without a goal for six minutes, Aileen Rosales continued that good performance with more positive interventions and even added a goal from goal to goal.
