He was convicted of practicing medicine without obtaining a degree

The medical student accused of working in a clinic in Concepcion providing services as a therapeutic physician without obtaining a qualified certificate and using the professional registration of another doctor, agreed to suspend the trial after the presentation made by his technical defenders.

In a session held for this purpose, today, Wednesday, September 27, his lawyers offered financial compensation amounting to $350,000, the performance of community tasks in the picnic area, and the rules of conduct that he must adhere to.

The case was investigated by Concepcion’s Early Decision Unit, headed by Public Prosecutor Miguel Varela, after a doctor from the capital reported that he had discovered that another person was practicing medicine in his name and with his registration number in a sanatorium for PAMI patients. For this reason, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said in June last year that the 40-year-old was charged with crimes of usurpation of titles and honors and illegal practice of medicine.

Suspend the process

During this morning’s hearing, Assistant Prosecutor Maria Emilia Lopez Delgado expressed a positive opinion of the defense’s presentation. The official stated that the accused had no criminal record and that, according to the procedural law, he could access the aforementioned alternative exit.

After listening to the parties, the intervening judge finally decided to suspend the trial on the following conditions: that the accused pays, within a period of 72 hours, the money offered, the destination of which will be a social welfare institution. Audience determined by the Attorney General’s Office; Carrying out community tasks for four hours a week in the Nozha area in the 11 de Enero district, located in the western region of the capital, for two years; At the same time comply with the code of conduct; Commitment to complete a medical degree within a period not exceeding three years.
