American director Greta GerwigThe director of the global box office hit “Barbie” has joined the cast of her husband's upcoming film, fellow director Noah Baumbach, the specialist media outlet Deadline announced on Thursday.
Isla Fisher, Josh Hamilton, Emily Mortimer and Patrick Wilson are the other actors and actresses who complete the cast that has already been announced to include George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough.
The film, which was developed for Netflix, still has no known title, but its screenplay is known to have been written by Baumbach and Mortimer.
Baumbach and Gerwig married in 2023 and have two children. Together they signed the script for the film Barbie, which at the latest edition of the Academy Awards, held on Sunday, achieved eight nominations and won a statuette for Best Original Song for the song What is I Made For?, by Billie Eilish and Finneas O. “Connell.”
Gerwig and Baumbach met in 2010 while filming “Greenberg,” a film directed by the director. Since then they have collaborated on other films such as “Frances Ha” (2012), which they both co-wrote, directed by Baumbach and starring Gerwig, or “Mistress America” (2015), in which they repeated the same scheme.
