Dua Lipa’s new single “Don’t Stop Now” is a freaking bop and I don’t want to listen to anything else today. The nu-disco track features signature Dua Lipa ‘tude and talks about moving on–the artist stated that choosing this song to lead her new album was a way to “close one chapter of my life and start another.”
“Into a new era with a new sound!” Lipa said in a statement. “It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with.”
Lipa won awards left and right after releasing her self-titled debut album in 2017, including two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording (for “Electricity” with Silk City). Singles like “New Rules”and “IDGAF” and collabs like “One Kiss” (with Calvin Harris) and “No Lie” (with Sean Paul) were playing all summer long and I, for one, had absolutely no complaints.
Dua’s breakout success has been a product of her songwriting and her cool style both on and off stage. Now 24 years old, she began singing and modeling as a teenager, and was signed to Warner Music Group in 2015.
“Don’t Stop Now” is a fun, upbeat track that may finally beat out “Lost In Your Light” or “No Lie” for me. Featuring Dua Lipa in various club scenes dancing the heck out of her feelings, the music video that was released earlier today already has nearly 3 million views. Check it out below!
