He noted that, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ivan Gil, delegations of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) are exchanging their ideas and reflections on science, technologies and innovations essential to the region.

Jimenez stated that CELAC’s joint projects and interests “will be embodied in technical agendas” linked to agro-food sovereignty, collective health, information technology, artificial intelligence, climate change and aerospace capabilities.
The Sector Vice President for Science, Technology, Education and Health also stated that the dream of the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean becomes a reality “when we expand the mobility of researchers in the region and the joint ID+I projects.”
He pointed to the infrastructure associated with generating knowledge, innovation, universities and linking research centres.
The electronic portal of the Ministry of Science and Technology stated that the Celac-CyT initiative emerged from various meetings on science and technology, with the aim of clarifying the efforts made to develop the field of scientific and technological research in the region.
He pointed out that this topic was included in the final declaration of the Seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC, which was held last January in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
