Zacatecas, Zach, February 2, 2024.- With the aim of strengthening relations between the Governments of Zacatecas and Canada and, in particular, promoting legal, orderly and safe migration, as part of the measures implemented by Governor David Monreal Ávila for peace and well-being, the Second Mexico-Canada Agreement was concluded. The diplomatic event attended by authorities of the Government of Mexico and the three orders in Zacatecas was chaired by Canada's Ambassador to Mexico, Graeme C. Clark, and on behalf of the President, Secretary-General of the Government, Rodrigo. Reyes Muguerza.

The state official stressed the importance of this forum to address the phenomenon of immigration, so that residents of Zacatecas who wish to immigrate to join Canada's productive activity can do so in a safe and orderly manner, through the movement of labor between the two governments.

Therefore, on behalf of the Governor, he thanked the Canadian Ambassador for his presence in Zacatecas because the visit allowed for closer relations, for the benefit of the Zacatecans, because the President's priority is social well-being.

Reyes Muguerza noted that the President has made an effort to provide better opportunities for the population, through a stronger social policy and cooperation through which the pacification process is progressing.

Proof of this, he said, is that the rate of premeditated murders has decreased significantly in Zacatecas, and that an agenda to promote pacification is being implemented.

For his part, after recognizing the state of Zacatecas as one of the most beautiful cities in the country, Canadian Ambassador Graeme C. Clarke thanked the Zacatecas government for its interest in working to strengthen the economic relationship between the two governments.

Its central message focused on calling on Zacatecans interested in immigrating to their country to use the official pathways offered by the Mexican and Canadian governments to not allow unethical recruiters to exploit people's vulnerability.
