Speaking to Radio 10, Castagnotto confirmed that “the agreement has already been sent, and it has come and gone several times through the systems. We have talked on conference calls, and come to an agreement with the AFIP there. I figure that this month Argentina and the United States will sign (the agreement) “.

In this sense, the official considered that “there will be a before and after in relation to this agreement” and said that “all countries of the world are on the same subject regarding the exchange of information.”

Regarding the importance of the initiative, Castagneto emphasized that “we have at least about 100,000 million US dollars abroad that are not authorized in Argentina, and this is in foreign currency. On the other hand, the goods, which will also be included in the agreement and they will pass all the information to us.”

The understanding will be signed by Economy Minister Sergio Massa, as expressed by the head of the African Investment Union.

The proposal includes the automatic exchange of tax information between the AFIP and its US counterpart, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), that would allow identification of deposits of Argentine citizens in that country who evade national taxes.
