There are times when one just wants to enjoy a good comedy. A movie that makes you laugh, without running around too much and without bad things that can surprise you.
As it usually happens, the platform Netflix He has something to offer in this regard, which is the movie You Are Killing Me Susana, starring Gael García Bernal, which tells the story of an actor who sees his life turned upside down from one moment to the next.
The platform synopsis progresses: “After his wife mysteriously leaves him, Eligio follows her to the United States, where he must face culture shock and discover the truth about their toxic relationship.”
Eligio (Gael García Bernal) is a likable but unsuccessful young actor. One day, upon arriving home, he discovers that his wife, Susanna, has left without giving any explanation. Surprised, he starts looking for her everywhere, while discovering that all is not as good as he thought.
After a while, he found out that he had gone to study in a small town in the United States. Enraged, he decides to look for her, leaving everything behind. There, he will have to confront a culture that is foreign and hostile to him, while trying to understand what happened to Susannah.
Released in 2016, the film was very successful in Mexican theaters, mainly due to the acclaimed role of Gael García Bernal, whose role he performed even more. Critics in general also had words of praise for the Robert Snyder-directed film. The cast is completed by Veronica Ichigi, Ashley Henshaw, and Daniel Jimenez Cacho.
