Spain signs an air cooperation agreement with the United Kingdom

The Department for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has signed a cooperation agreement with the UK Department for Transport in the aviation sector. Specifically, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in promoting sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

SAF is strategic for the short and medium term reduction in net emissions from the aviation sectorto assert itself as a technology ready to gradually replace fossil fuels as it becomes more widespread and more productive.

It should be noted that Spain and the United Kingdom are leaders in the use of SAF And it is the clearest short-term way to decarbonize air transport. By signing this MoU, both countries are more aligned in this conviction and a framework will be put in place for further progress on this issue.

This document was signed within Bilateral meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters Led by the Secretary-General for Transport and Mobility, María José Ralló, and Baroness Vere de Norbiton, Secretary of State for Air and Maritime Transport at the UK Department of Transport. David Benito, Director General of Civil Aviation, accompanied the Secretary to the meeting.
