Science Committee in favor of producing biofertilizers for healthy agriculture

Congressman Carlos Zeballos Madariaga (PP), Chairman of the Committee on Science, Innovation and Technology, announced that the working group will focus more on environmental protection and the sustainability of family farming, which our country so desperately needs.

This came on Friday the 19th during the second extraordinary session and after listening to the presentation made by Jorge Luis Sánchez Hernández, researcher at the Technological Institute of Production – ITP, who stated that it is necessary to reuse part of our small production resources needed to produce biofertilizers.

He explained that his organization is working to produce biofertilizers that help in the process of biological nutrition for plants, allowing good use of atmospheric nitrogen through the development of the root system, which helps achieve greater dissolution and delivery of nutrients.

“The agricultural sector is strategic for our country and has generated nearly $9 million for the treasury,” Sanchez Hernandez said.

The researcher explained that out of 100% of fishing resources, only 50% is consumed, and the rest goes to landfill, causing environmental impact and pollution of water, soil and air.

For this reason, the Chairman of the Working Group indicated that he would reiterate this proposal with the aim of providing sustainability for family farming. “We will speak out so this can move forward,” he added.

Lawmaker Roberto Camiche Morante (CD) said that it is necessary to install several processing plants to manufacture inputs. He urged the executive to join this approach, which will help provide work to many families, but above all there will be healthy agriculture.

Parliamentarian Silvia Monteza Faccio (NA) welcomed the initiative and highlighted the work of professionals and researchers in our country. At the same time, he criticized that with all the resources needed in our country, farmers are still suffering from fertilizers.

Previously, FAP Major General José Antonio García Morgan, Institutional Chairman of the National Aerospace Research and Development Commission (Conida), introduced himself, noting that his organization works alongside INDECI and CENEPRED in disaster risk management.

“A clear example of this is the oil spill at sea. We had more than 600 free images, which allowed us to hand them over to the authorities responsible for the recovery process,” he said.
