On Monday, Governor Marcelo Orrego received Canadian Ambassador to the Argentine Republic, Reid Douglas Sears. The meeting was held in the Eloy Camus Hall of the Government House and was attended by the Ministers of Production, Labor and Innovation, Gustavo Fernández; Mining, Juan Pablo Perea; From the government, Laura Palma; and Corporate Relations Secretary, Claudia Sarmiento.

During the meeting, the bilateral agenda, outstanding issues, and common interest in the regional and international reality were discussed. “This was my first visit with the new governor,” Reed Douglas Sears explained. “We were able to talk about working together and talked about issues we had in common, such as mining.”

In addition, the Ambassador emphasized that “we also discussed the different opportunities for Canada that San Juan can offer such as food, fruits and wine.”

About the ambassador

Reed Sears is a career diplomat with more than two decades of experience promoting Canada's bilateral and multilateral foreign policy priorities. He has diverse professional experience including international trade, investment, development cooperation and corporate issues such as consular services and emergency management. He served overseas in Honduras, Tanzania (with accreditations in the Comoros, Madagascar, and Seychelles) and twice in Afghanistan, where he served as ambassador in 2020. Before joining the federal government, Sears worked in the Canadian private sector.
