The national media of the United States has rehashed its newspaper closures in the face of the storm and the delay in the start of a huge party dedicated to world soccer star Lionel Messi, a new promotion of Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Florida newspapers echoed fans’ devotion to enduring the instability of the underwater climate in Fort Lauderdale and surrounding areas in the state’s south.

The Miami Herald noted, “The storm and the delay didn’t affect the mood at Lionel Messi’s homecoming party Sunday night.” In turn, the Spanish edition of the Nuevo Herald mentioned the Argentine player’s arrival in MLS as a “historic offer”.

“The beginning of an era,” the Sun Sentinel responded this morning to the revolution the Argentina captain has created in the world of American sports.

A specialized press, mostly Spanish-speaking, and a large number of photographers were accredited to the “Revelation” event, guarding every step of the guest of honor on and off the field. The press room was packed to capacity and the income segment had to be adjusted in front of the audience who tried to get a picture with the maximum amount of the idol.

Other national media outlets also featured on their front pages the arrival of the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The New York Times asserted that “Messi gives MLS first clue to its star’s weight”, The Washington Post highlighted the “thousands of plaudits” at his first contact, while USA Today noted the “official beginning of the Messi era”.
