Louis Caputo met with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen

Today, Thursday, Economy Minister Luis Caputo continued his activities within the framework of the G20 ministerial meeting held in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. There, the Minister of Economy participated in the meeting's discussion days and met with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

After the meeting, the Treasury Secretary said in a statement that “the Miley administration inherited a difficult task of achieving stability, but it has already taken some important steps to restore financial sustainability, adjust the exchange rate and combat inflation.”

In addition, Caputo held a bilateral meeting with his German financial counterpart Christian Lindner, where he spoke with him about the challenges facing Argentina and the stabilization policies being implemented. They also discussed the opportunities available through the reforms being promoted in areas of mutual interest for German corporate investments in strategic sectors for both countries.

On the other hand, the Minister of Economy held a constructive meeting with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Matthias Cormann. In this context, the case of Argentina's access to the organization was analyzed, and the next steps and the central role played by the Ministry of Economy in the aforementioned process were discussed.

In conclusion, the minister met with World Bank President Ajay Banga and the organization's Director General of Operations, Axel van Trotsenburg. During the meeting, they discussed how the World Bank Group can support Argentina to achieve its goals and develop private investment.

The Minister was accompanied in these meetings by Finance Minister and G20 Deputy Pablo Cuerno.
