CIDENE and the US Embassy in Peru launch the free entrepreneurship program “Igual Emprende” – Business Empresarial

Commercial Business.- With the aim of achieving equality and providing the same opportunities to members of the LGTBIQ+ community, in the cities of Lima and Tarapoto, the Center for Business Research and Development (CIDENE), with the support of the US Embassy in Peru, launched the “Igual Emprende” entrepreneurship project.

The initiative will provide training to 60 members of the LGTBIQ+ community with their own business ideas and/or projects, through three phases. The first stage is “basic training,” through the University of Arizona’s DreamBuilder business development program, and then technical assistance is provided; Participants will develop their business plan and investment proposal.

Meanwhile, the third stage will be a competition, during which they will submit their business plan and the winners will receive a “seed capital” of about US$500, to implement their business idea or improve the project.

“In collaboration with the US Embassy in Peru, we are committed to supporting the economic and personal development of entrepreneurs from the LGBTIQ+ community, through this virtual program to provide tools that encourage the creation and strengthening of small businesses,” Melina Dominguez stated. In addition, all attendees will receive a certificate of their participation in the entrepreneurship course, which is scheduled to start in the second half of January until mid-April.

People interested in participating must be a member of the LGTBIQ+ community, have a business idea or have their own project, be available during the training, have an Internet connection, have a cell phone or computer and have knowledge of basic digital skills.
