Canada is negotiating the exit of its citizens from Gaza through the Rafah crossing on Saturday

Toronto (Canada) – Canadian authorities revealed today, Friday, that they are negotiating with Egypt and Israel to evacuate their citizens from the Gaza Strip, on Saturday, through the Rafah crossing, which connects the Palestinian Strip to Palestine. Egyptian lands.

Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister Jolie said Sunday that there is a possibility that Canadians could leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing toward Egypt “tomorrow between 12:00 and 17:00 (local time).”

“We are in active contact with the Egyptian and Israeli authorities to ensure that Canadians, permanent residents of Canada and their families are able to leave,” Sunday explained.

The Canadian official added that Ottawa is making “amazing efforts” with Canadian allies and the United Nations to carry out the evacuation.

The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that Egypt, in coordination with Israel, is the country that informed Canada of the possibility of evacuating Gaza.

The Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister added that “our embassy in Cairo is working with the Egyptian authorities to ensure that these Canadians can be transferred” to the Egyptian capital.

Senior Canadian officials said about 150 people in Gaza had requested assistance from Ottawa. The majority are Canadian citizens but there are also mixed families where some people do not have Canadian citizenship, further complicating their evacuation.

The Canadian authorities added that the situation is very fluid and difficult, and that the interruption of electrical service in Gaza makes communications with Canadians in the Strip very complicated.
