Artificial intelligence created by teachers to help other teachers

Robots and other AI tools are increasingly present in education as support for all kinds of tasks related to the teaching and learning process: from creating resources and activities to developing personalized lesson plans or to helping prepare tests and correct exercises. In addition to solutions developed by companies, some teachers have also designed AI assistants to facilitate their work and to create more engaging and interactive learning situations for students. We choose four examples and explain what they consist of.

Hey teachers

Created by Ramon Bisonias, a professor of philosophy at the San José Institute in Badajoz, GPT operates on the same generative AI model as ChatGPT and is hosted on the OpenAI website. Its purpose is to evaluate and improve educational content (notes, graphs, tasks, visual maps…). To use it, you must have a payment plan and sign in with a Google, Microsoft, or Apple account, or register with your email and password. Next, you must enter the desired content so that the Assistant can analyze it and suggest changes.

Chatbot Magic is a free assistant designed by English teacher Cristina Cabal that helps students improve their writing in this language (when they don't have a teacher available). Once on the platform, and without having to register, users can start interacting with a bot called CabalScribe, which makes recommendations to improve their skills, as well as answering any questions they may have. To develop it, the teacher used the Mizou AI system, specifically designed to help teachers enhance one-on-one interactions with students.

Bringing history closer to students in a more engaging way is the mission of “HablaconlaHistoria”, an artificial intelligence developed by Julio Candela, professor of Geography and History at IES Monserrat Roig in Elche. Through this open access web platform, teachers are also encouraged to apply generative AI as a tool to create different learning experiences that encourage exploration and discussion.

In addition to talking with 100 historical figures classified by specialization (writers, thinkers, conquerors, kings…), the solution allows you to suggest topics for different figures to discuss or create personal historical memoirs (this option is only available to subscribed members).

Professor Jesús Rivas (University of Salamanca) is the founder of the artificial intelligence “Redacta.me” and its bot “MaríaChat”. Designed to provide educational support to teachers and students, this assistant uses the same technology as ChatGPT to answer naturally expressed questions and is able to work directly on a document (answers doubts, summarizes them, rewrites them…).

It also has different templates depending on the type of profile selected: for teachers, as a student tutor or as a general assistant. Among its applications it helps to develop exercises, create assessment headings, rewrite texts, create multiple choice questions, develop learning situations, design images… Apart from its free version, it offers two other paid versions for those who want to increase their abilities.
