After her visit to Panama, the US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, said that Panama is taking important steps to support democracy around the world.

The official stated that US companies are keen to do more business in Panama for the reasons detailed.

Raimondo visited Panama City on Thursday, July 20, where he announced that the country has been selected as one of seven countries worldwide with which the US State Department will work to advance the global semiconductor value chain, through the International Fund for Technology Security and Innovation.

The US State Department made this decision because of the Panama Canal, connectivity, business-friendly environment, and legal certainty.

He added that interest exists in the areas of semiconductors, supply chains and manufacturing.
