Allamand (Segib) highlights the “multiple” investment opportunities between Latin America and Europe

Ibero-American (CEGIP) Secretary General, Andres Allamand, emphasized the existence of “multiple” opportunities for investments in a two-way path, from Europe to Latin America and vice versa, thanks to the multinational Latin American companies. origin, are present in several countries in the region and have relevant operations outside their home borders.

At an event organized on Tuesday by the business council Alianza por Iberoamérica (Ceapi) at the offices of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, in which Allamand was accompanied by the president of Ceapi, Nuria Vilanova, the president of Segib explained that relations between Latin America and Europe are “on the threshold of relaunch”.

To achieve this relaunch, the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the current second semester was of great importance. This relaunch, according to Allamanda, covers geopolitical, strategic, commercial and investment aspects.

Likewise, Allamand stressed that Europe and Latin America “need each other” not only to defend common values ​​on the international stage, but to benefit from multiple opportunities, among others, in the areas of digitalisation, clean energy and infrastructure. All of them are vulnerable to alliances between the public and private sectors.

These opportunities go beyond just the use of and access to raw materials that Latin America has. He added, “European finance, technology, and investments must contribute to forming an economy in the region that overcomes extractive exploitation and is able to add value to natural resources.”

For her part, Nuria Vilanova highlighted the great importance of cooperation between the countries and companies of the Ibero-American Community as well as the strengthening of ties between companies from Latin America, Europe and the United States.

“Strengthening cooperation between Ibero-American countries is essential, and beyond geopolitical, diplomatic and economic goals, it is about creating projects that improve the lives of citizens. To achieve this, it is necessary that we continue to strengthen joint action between institutions and entrepreneurs, as we promote at Ceapi” .

Within the framework of the development of the business meeting, the President of Ceapi announced the celebration of the 7th Ceapi Ibero-American Conference of CEOs and Business Families, which will be held from June 17 to 19, 2024 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

This event, entitled “Believe, Grow, Innovate Ibero-America in the Face of the Challenge of Growth and Productivity”, will move for the second time to the territory of Latin America, after the event held in the Dominican Republic in 2022, and 500 heads of major American multinational companies with Investments on both sides of the Atlantic.
