SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Oct. 20 (EFE).- Canada and Mexico started the diving competition at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games on the right foot on Friday, managing to advance to the final of all registered athletes, including Canada’s Kylie MacKay and Olympic medalists Gabriela Agundez and Alejandra. MacKay placed first among the 16 competitors with a total score of 343.95 achieved on five attempts in the 10-meter platform vault.
Close behind are Agundez with 333.75 and Orozco, one of the favorites for the podium with 320.10.

Americans Nike Agunbiade and Jordan Skilken, Puerto Rican Maycey Vieta and Colombian María Isabella Gómez also advanced to the final.
She closed the classifieds list with Dominican Victoria Garza, who received 246.95 points.
Colombian Mariana Osorio, Puerto Rican Elizabeth Miclau, Cuban Arlenes Garcia, and Peruvian Pamela Reyes were excluded.
All eyes were on Orozco, the youngest Mexican medalist in history, who was the first to jump and ultimately trailed compatriot Agundez in the rankings.
Both Orozco and Agundez already have a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, although the former is aiming for the gold medal in Santiago that she has not yet obtained at the Pan American Games.
