A metal monolith similar to the one that has been found over the past few months has recently appeared in different parts of the world, in southeastern Turkey, AP reports.
The three-meter-high structure is engraved in an ancient Turkish script used by people like Katarak, which reads “Look at the sky if you want to see the moon.” It was found by a farmer in the province of Sanliurfa last Friday near the archaeological site of Gbekli Tepe, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and which includes stone structures dating back to the 10th millennium BC. It is the oldest known rock “sanctuary”, built about 6000 years before the famous Stonehenge.
Several citizens visited the site to see the metal shaft. Fouad Demerdel, the owner of the field in which the mound appeared, said, “We have never seen anything like this in our life (…) We don’t know what it is.” Cited local media.
Armed gendarmerie agents restricted access to the area on Sunday, while authorities were investigating how, when, or by whom the memorial was erected. In the photos posted on social media, you can see how the area has been cordoned off.
In the previous months, similar monolithic stones appeared in various places in the United States where there was one made of gingerbread, glazed and decorated with glue, that was installed in San Francisco, Spain, Paraguay and other countries.
