The UTMB World Championship comes to Canada: UTMB’s Ultra Trail Whistler

UTMB’s newly created Ultra Trail Whistler will welcome runners September 28-29, 2024, and will offer 100, 50 and 25 km distances.

The UTMB World Championship comes to Canada. In 2024, the stunning alpine terrain of Whistler and the surrounding Sea-to-Sky Trail in British Columbia will host a brand new event, UTMB’s Ultra Trail Whistler™ on September 28-29, 2024.

The event will include 3 distances: 100 km, 50 km. And 25 km. It will take runners on a journey that highlights the best of Whistler and its trails. Priority registration opens on October 30, 2023 for A UTMB indicatorwhile general registration will be open from November 1 at whistler.utmb.world.

There are already 40 races “by UTMB”

UTMB’s Ultra Trail Whistler becomes the 40th race of the 2024 UTMB World Championships, and the eighth event in North America. More races to be added for 2024 have yet to be announced, as the global circuit strives to give runners around the world the opportunity to find a UTMB event closer to them.

A high-profile all-season destination, Whistler is part of many travellers’ bucket lists, finding among its visitors both demanding profiles and outdoor sports enthusiasts. UTMB’s Ultra Trail Whistler runners will enjoy epic views of glaciers, streams, and high-tech terrain, but also a wide array of accommodations, dining, and activities.

Over its three distances, the test challenges runners to conquer the Fitzsimmons Ridge. The 100 kilometers. The Queen’s Race involves an elevation difference of nearly 5,000 metres, while it is 50 kilometres. They will test the athletes’ endurance when facing slopes of more than 3,300 metres. At a distance of 25 km. Over 1,500 meters of elevation gain, athletes will explore deep evergreen forests, stunning mountain lakes and high mountain views as they negotiate diverse terrain with alpine meadows, mountaintop views and the satisfaction of crossing the finish line.
