The United States does not give Slovenia an option without Doncic

The American basketball team defeated the Slovenian national team (92-62) on Saturday in the FEB Centenary Championship that is being held at the Martin Karpena Stadium in Malaga, where Slovenian star Luka Doncic did not play. The United States, Spain’s opponent on Sunday, gave no option to Slovenia who did not put the NBA star into play, who played Friday in the loss to Spain. The US national team, one of the biggest favorites for the World Cup that begins in two weeks, started out on top, but Slovenia reacted (16-12). Dragic’s nearly consecutive twice were medicine for his team, but the United States punished every European misstep. The American defense and intensity in Malaga Stadium led to quick shifts and conversions that increased the score a few minutes into the second quarter (41-24). In addition, the United States dominated the rebound and lived comfortably despite not being quite as strong on the outside. At the start of the second half, the score was over twenty, and with everything, Slovenia wanted to fight to the end to get something positive out of their World Cup preparation, closing the gap at the start of the last quarter. But the defenses gave way in the final minutes, and with baskets being exchanged, the United States again extended the light. North Americans Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards, Jalen Bronson and Austin Reeves scored double-digit points.
