The Ministry of Science selects 15 Spanish scientists and 15 foreign scientists to “attract” talent

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the State Research Agency published the decision to grant the first invitation to the university ATTRAE programwhere 15 Spanish scientists and 15 foreign scientists were selected to join the Spanish research, development and innovation system.

The program, for which 27.5 million euros was allocated, selected four scientists from Germany, four from Italy, three from France, and one from Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, highlighted that ATRAI is the first national initiative to “attract scientists of international distinction to Spain and thus strengthen Spain’s competitiveness.” He added: “We want to attract the best talents because our country deserves to have pioneering and reliable science at the service of citizens.”

Each scientist will receive assistance of up to one million euros to develop their line of research in Spain, purchase equipment, hire staff, and cover their salaries. His contract will have an initial duration of three to four years with a commitment to stability by the entity hosting him.

The beneficiary institutions that have registered in the Atray program come from Madrid, Catalonia, Valencian Community, Andalusia, Galicia, Asturias, Canary Islands, Castilla and León. Among them, Carlos III University of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Salamanca, University of Seville, Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​University of Valencia, University of Oviedo, Pompeu Fabra University, Autonomous University of Madrid, Polytechnic University of Spain. Valencia, the State Agency of the Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), or the Carlos III National Cancer Research Center stand out, among others.
