The Cuban basketball team qualifies in Puerto Rico ‘Sport’ Granma

Jett reports that the Cuban men’s basketball team will compete in Window Three of the 2022 Americop Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as part of Group C.

According to media statements, National Commissioner Dalia Henry explained that this tour was announced in the form of a “bubble” for the C and D keys in the Puerto Rican capital from February 17-22 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.

For those led by Jose “Pepe” Ramirez, the fixtures will be 18 against Canada, 20 against the Dominican Republic, and 21 again against the North.

The C Key Status Update displays the Dominican Republic first with three wins and one loss, followed by Cuba, the US Virgin Islands (1-2) and Canada (1-1). In Division D, the United States (4-0), Mexico (2-2), Puerto Rico and the Bahamas (1-3) are playing.

The top three teams from each group advance to the next round. The continental event awards seven places at the 2023 Pan-American Games in Santiago de Chile and qualifies for the 19th edition. Jett added that the World Cup was held in Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan in the same year.

Cuba lost in the first net of qualifiers for the South American Cup 2022, with a score of 64-80 cards. Then they won, 91-64, in both games against the Virgin Islands pentagonal, losing 60-96 to the Dominicans.
