The Poco M3 has a 6.53 inch 1080p LCD screen with a water drop notch for an 8MP selfie camera. The screen is very basic: the chin at the bottom is quite large, the fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button on the side instead of the screen, and the panel is only 60Hz, but it’s sharp enough and can be used perfectly.
The design of the phone definitely stands out from the back, with a large shiny camera bump decorated with a bright white “POCO” logo. The main camera is 48MP, but the other two are 2MP sensors for depth and macro, so this is not a useful triple camera setup. Although the body of the phone is made of plastic, it uses a leather layer that looks much nicer than most other plastic phones. It is available in black, yellow and blue colors.
The M3 processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, paired with 4GB RAM. It runs MIUI 12 on Android 10. The battery is impressive at 6000mAh, and the phone is huge but somewhat manageable with a thickness of 9.6mm and a weight of 198g. There are options for 64GB or 128GB of storage, and the phone has two SIM card slots in addition to a separate microSD slot. There is also a headphone jack and a USB-C port.
The Xiaomi Poco M3 goes on sale online on Black Friday, Nov.27, with early US prices starting at $ 129 for the 64GB model and $ 149 for 128GB. Regular price is $ 149 for the 64GB version and $ 169 for 128GB.
Even at these higher prices, it appears that the M3 will be a very good value by US market standards. You can compare it to Moto E for this yearFor example, which starts at $ 149 but has a 720p screen, Snapdragon 632 processor, Micro USB port, 32GB of storage, and 2GB of RAM.
