In the women’s category, the 12 teams that will participate are ranked: Nigeria (Africa), Canada, Puerto Rico, the USA (America), China, Japan (the host country), and Korea (Asia), Belgium, France, Serbia, Spain (Europe). )) And Australia (Oceania).
Four bowls will be allocated to each team according to the FIFA Women’s World Ranking (FIBA), Spain will be the seed, and 3 groups of 4 teams will be formed each. There can be a maximum of one group with two European teams and no more than one team from other continents in the same group.
As for the men’s category, there are eight qualified teams: Nigeria (Africa), Argentina, USA (America), Iran and Japan (host country) (Asia), France, Spain (Europe) and Australia (Oceania).
The remaining four will be awarded to the four teams that won the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Championships scheduled to take place from 29 June to 4 July 2021 in Victoria (Canada); Split (Croatia); Kaunas (Lithuania); Belgrade (Serbia).
Like the women’s team, Spain will be ranked in the men’s category and 3 groups of 4 teams will be formed each.
