At the time, the company asked industrial design students to imagine what the future of the car as a means of transportation would look like, how it would influence design, and suggested they consider its adaptation to existing infrastructures. The video shows a machine with a clear exterior glass, silver bucket seats and sliding doors. But the most distinctive feature is the lack of wheels. It will rely on maglev technology, or magnetic levitation technology, to travel to places.

The float will also be non-directional, meaning it can move in any direction without turning. Each pod can communicate and travel alongside other pods through the magnetic belt surrounding its exterior. Kai designed The Float uses electric power, autonomous driving and connected technologies.
