Science magazine announces Young Researcher Awards aimed at students aged 15 to 20 years

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) has launched the 35th Young Researchers Competition, targeting students aged 15 to 20 years in Spain, the ministry reported.

The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, emphasized that this is “the most important competition in Spain of its kind” and through which they seek to “awaken scientific vocations among young students.”

The competition, which cooperates with the Institute for Youth (Injuve) to organize and develop it, promotes research among young people by awarding prizes for works completed in the field of basic or applied research, or prototypes related to any of the areas of the secondary school curriculum, baccalaureate education and vocational training.

Specifically, young people have to explore their environment to identify some questions that they do not know how to explain; Document yourself about it; Propose and demonstrate a demo solution to your problem.

This competition, which involves curiosity, imagination and teamwork, also contributes to promoting values ​​such as the spirit of inquiry, active citizenship, inclusive education, innovation, creativity and gender equality.

The jury, taking into account the results of the evaluation carried out by the expert consultants in the first phase, will prepare a report containing a proposal of a maximum of 39 final works, plus three reserves.

Authors selected by the faculty must present and defend their work during presentation sessions at the Young Researchers Conference, which will be held from 27 to 30 June at the Euro-Latin American Youth Center (Molina, Málaga). , based on Ingov.

In total, 39 cash prizes will be awarded to participating students and 8 cash prizes to teachers: a special prize for “Young Researchers” worth €5,000; Seven first prizes, each worth 4,000 euros, for the best works in different fields of knowledge; Ten second prizes, each worth 3,000 euros, for the best works in different fields of knowledge; Ten third prizes, each worth 2,000 euros, for the best works in various fields of knowledge; Eleven second prizes, each worth 1,000 euros, for the best works in various fields of knowledge; Eight Teacher Prizes, each worth €2,000, for first prize and Special Prize works; Honorable mention to teacher coordinator: Honorable mention to an educational center or association; Honorable mention of a person or organization; Participation in international scientific events and conferences.
