New low-cost airline Norse Atlantic Airways is set to begin operations in the spring or summer of 2022. The first aircraft in its fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners prepares for maintenance and a paint job with the airline’s image.
Norse Fleet is operated by several of the Norwegian Long Haul subsidiaries, which have gone out of business. Due to the effects of the pandemic, these aircraft remained in storage and were acquired by Norse Atlantic through long-term lease contracts.
Norway will be the first base
The airline plans to operate from London, Paris and Oslo to US destinations such as New York, Los Angeles and Miami, which are the most popular cities for Europeans to travel to.
The company plans to hire 1,600 employees, some of them from Norway, by next summer, and for now it will apply for two Air Operator Certificates (AOCs): one from Norway, and an additional British license, as a result of the regulatory duplication of Brexit.
