New Jersey provides mental health resources for college students – NBC New York (47)

New Jersey – This is good news for New Jersey college students and access to free mental health services.

The state will provide them with free teletherapy, crisis communication, and 24/7/365 wellness programs as part of mental health crisis assistance measures.

Launched a year ago, Uwill is the nation’s first partnership with the mental health and wellness platform, and currently serves students from 45 New Jersey institutions of higher education who have chosen the partnership.

“There is no doubt that young people have been facing a mental health crisis for some time, and its causes are multifaceted and include everything from the rise of social media to increased academic pressures, the impact of the pandemic and much more. Through this program, “We ensure struggling college students have access to mental health support services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.”

As of April, more than 10,000 students have registered on Uwill’s digital platform and have scheduled nearly 32,000 sessions with the diverse network of qualified and licensed mental health providers available.

Grants awarded by OSHE last summer support 44 institutions in establishing partnerships with community service providers as well as professional development opportunities for faculty and staff who are developing multicultural competency.
