The German Minister of Agriculture, Cem Ozdemir, considered today, Monday (11/20/2023), that after the victory of the right-wing populist Javier Miley In Argentina, the “environment” for approving the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur will be “more difficult.”

On Sunday, Miley defeated Peronist Sergio Massa in the second round of the Argentine elections, and during the election campaign he defended and showed his rejection of the Mercosur trade bloc, which Argentina shares with Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. The European Union and Mercosur signed the trade agreement in 2019 after twenty years of negotiations, but it is still awaiting ratification.
